The Cargills Sarubima fund was established in 2008 to invest in uplifting the lives of the farming communities. Cargills contributes 50 cents for every kilogram of fresh produce and every liter of fresh milk purchased from our farmers, which is invested to provide educational scholarships for farmer children, resources for up-skilling of farming communities, credit insurance schemes against crop failures, and investment in local infrastructure. 60% of the fund is directed towards educational scholarships, helping to bridge the gap in access to quality education and learning facilities for rural communities.
Agricultural Modernization Project
Launched in 2019, the Agriculture Modernization Project enhances farmer livelihoods through improved productivity by introducing our farmers to climate-smart agriculture technique which lead to higher yields, multiple harvests, lower input costs, and sustainable agriculture, while adhering to the international standards of product quality and safety.
At the onset, we collaborated with JAIN Irrigation Systems India and gave the opportunity to a selected group of farmers and extension officers to receive first-hand exposure to Agronomy and Micro Irrigation training via a visit to Indian high-tech farms and technical parks.
Through the Sarubima fund, we provide educational scholarships for children and resources for learning and professional advancement to the youth of the farming communities.
In previous years, community development projects have included the introduction of drinking water facilities, water purification projects, infrastructure development in schools and building playgrounds and parks for children at several locations. At the onset, we collaborated with JAIN Irrigation Systems India and gave the opportunity to a selected group of farmers and extension officers to receive first-hand exposure to Agronomy and Micro Irrigation training via a visit to Indian high-tech farms and technical parks.

The Agriculture Modernization Project encourages farmers to adopt climate-smart, sustainable agriculture practices through the introduction of drip irrigation systems and modern farming practices. Reducing the cost of production and enhancing yield, reducing agro-chemical usage through fertigation, efficient water management through drip irrigation, reducing soil erosion, weed growth and preserving soil moisture through polythene mulch are some of the main features. To secure funding for the farmers under this project, financial assistance was provided through the Sarubima Fund to repay the loans taken, in the event of unavoidable circumstances i.e., crop failure stemming from inclement weather.
