As Sri Lanka goes through a crisis that effects people of all ages in all geographical locations, the government has taken steps to combat this global pandemic which has begun to affect thousands of lives in the island. While healthcare workers battle the highly infectious virus in hospitals, numerous quarantine centres have been set up for those who have been exposed to infected persons. The government has also initiated the COVID-19 Healthcare and Security Fund towards the utilization of urgent medical supplies and healthcare, with an appeal for donations to maintain its efforts. Amongst several altruistic corporates and individuals who have stepped forward is Cargills, a name synonymous with supporting lives and livelihoods in Sri Lanka. Never hesitating to reach out to those adversely affected by natural disaster and misfortune in the past, the company made a generous contribution of LKR 50 million to the Fund which has been received with thanks.
