The diehard rugby-loving public of Kandy had their hearts filled with joy,
when Cargills Ceylon PLC ‘Food City’ announced that they are the premier
sponsors of champion Kandy Sports Club. Singer has been with Kandy SC for the
last twelve years as sponsors and Etisalat for the last four years. They too are
there with the champion club.
Defending champions Kandy SC has won the League and the knockouts more than
any other club in the country and they have been dominating the game in the last
two decades.
On Thursday evening a packed house at the Gen Denzil Kobbekkaduwa pavilion,
saw M. Raheem Group Manager announcing and handing over the package to Kandy SC
president Dr Sarath Kapuwatte.
Present at the occasion were Dilan Dias Ex Director Millers, Senaka
Amarasinghe General Manager Retail Cargills, Anton Nanayakkara chief of Food
City in Kandy and Kandy SC’s Nihal Rattwatte (Secretary) and Lasantha Wijasuriya
(Rugby Chairman).
Raheem announced the exclusive five-year agreement to sponsor the defending
champions who remain undisputed frontrunner in Sri Lanka rugby. He said that the
sponsorship deal sees Cargills becoming both the official partner and official
food and beverage partner of the Nittawella club.
